ABOUT THE FARM
When my grandparents moved to Montana from New Mexico in the 1950’s they bought a homestead on the east side of the Flathead Valley – 15 minutes from the entrance to Glacier National Park. Both had grown up as farm kids, and it made sense to them to raise their young family in the country. My grandpa, a construction supervisor for the local manufacturing plant, came from a long-line of cattlemen. So, while his friends at work were buying lake cabins, he bought up several adjacent farms and started his own beef herd. We grew up on the farm; dad took over the operation in his early 20’s and added sheep, hogs, seed potatoes and peppermint to the mix. It was a bit like Little House on the Prairie complete with "The Long Winter", wildlife, and a cat named Nellie. Today, my brother, sister and I continue to enjoy a bucolic lifestyle as we raise up the next generation of farm kids. Our land is rich in water resources, from a majestic mountain waterfall to several small, spring-fed lakes. There is no shortage of incredible sunsets. Here, we raise heritage hogs, grass-fed beef, and backyard chickens. We invite folks to stay in our barn loft as they enjoy Glacier National Park and the surrounding Flathead Valley.
